Eastbound & Down

Anybody watching this hilarious, profane television show on HBO? It is completely wrong in so many good ways. Episode 1:2 featured a somewhat forced cameo from Will Farrell but was very, very funny nonetheless (directed by David Gordon Green). Good stuff (and maybe as good as “Summer Heights High” which is now out on DVD and worth the effort).

  1. hey jeff, thanks for the reminder. i’d read an interview with danny mcbride on the avclub in which he talks about the show, made a mental note to check it out and then promptly forgot about it–as i’ve been forgetting everything since we spawned last month. finally got around to it late last night while feeding the baby. it’s really very good. and deeply, completely wrong. i agree that will ferell’s appearance threw off the balance of the show but i’m willing to forgive the mugging on account of that terrific ric flair wig that he wore. i hope this show will last longer than the last hbo comedy i really liked: lucky louie, which you guys should also check out on dvd.

  2. the scene at the middle school dance was one of the funniest things I’ve seen on tv in some time. something tells me McBride has bigger and better plans, but we shall see

For what it is worth, “The United States of Tara” is also a lot of fun. I managed to steamroll through five episodes this weekend on the computer
