The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to widen the pool of nominees for Best Picture from 5 to 10. In a similarly radical move, Steve Sexton, head of Churchill Downs Incorporated, has decided to expand the Kentucky Derby to 40 horses.
