I’m not terribly surprised, but I’m also not terribly disappointed. As much as I think this is the best comedy on, it would have probably gotten stale if it kept going.
What I wish for (and I don’t think FOX will allow this to happen), is that the rest of the season could have played out knowing it was coming to an end, as The Office did so well; heightening the tensions and relationships up to the finale.
Last week’s episode, where it’s revealed that Charlize Theron’s character is retarded, cracked me up.
It frankly had a really good run, won some emmys, and will do well on DVD – and thank god, it put Jason Bateman back on the map. Perhaps now they could revive his old Silver Spoons spin-off “It’s Your Move.”
Yes: having only a few successful seasons does not mean it was a failure. I also agree that it would have been nice to have a final dénouement. But I also like the thought of it forever suspended in mid-air, like a memory to return to always fresh.
Plus, how cute is Jason Bateman? His wardrobe person showed remarkable restraint.
SO cute.
Guess what? I heard that one of your wishes has come true. My sister told me that there were still five more episodes in production at the time that the cancellation was announced. So maybe they will build towards closure for you!
Yes, the show was never officially cancelled and still hasn’t been as far as I know. It was simply pulled from the November sweeps and the originally 22 episode commitment was reduced to 13, which means there are approximately five episodes yet to be dumped in January (I imagine).
It was interesting to read different reports on whether or not the show was officially cancelled… It certianly was, but Fox had nothing to lose by letting people discuss the possible scenarios.
I am also happy to hear that the show will have 5 episodes to try to bring it to a conclusion of sorts. I can’t help thinking Ron Howard will show his ugly mug in it before it wraps up.

I really don’t think Brian Grazer will appear.
Ba-doom, tssshhhh!
This is the kind of insider Hollywood joke that drives people like me–good midwesterners with solid values who would like to hear about the differences between black people and white people and the kinds of funny things that a wife says because she doesn’t understand football–crazy, and makes us swear off the hipster trash like ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!! that is ruining TV and preventing Robert Uhrich from coming back from the dead and starring in a new sitcom about a put-upon husband with a lovely wife (Karen Valentine returning to the small screen!)who has….get this, FIVE teenage daughters. oh my, the problems with dating, fitting into high school, peer pressure, dad’s overprotectivness, necrophilia and borrowing the car! When will that kind of wholesome decency return to TV??
Just found this link at DailyKos. Rumor has it, Showtime is picking up “Arrested Development.”
Damn Fox:

Showing them all at once is fine by me. Greater chance I’ll remember to see it.
